Right on the bank of the mighty river Thames, the Royal National Theatre complex is well known worldwide, loved by many but still one of the most controversial pieces of Brutalist architecture in Britain. It’s one of the country’s best known publicly funded theatre companies, alongside the Royal Shakespeare Company, and is dedicated to providing entertainment to every taste and budget. Despite its blocky, squat appearance it has been listed Grade 2 since 1994 and is home to three large venues, one of which is the Lyttelton, which holds 890 theatre lovers in comfort. In the foyer of the complex there’s a huge theatre-focused bookshop, restaurants, bars, live music and exhibitions, with fascinating backstage tours running regularly. Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie have played to enthusiastic crowds here, as has a huge and prestigious back catalogue of fine productions. Experience it for yourself with our wide choice of Lyttelton Theatre tickets!
